Solfege & Sight-reading

Suzuki School of the Brazos Valley

...where every child can!

Our students are given reading instruction via a modified Solfege method, even before instrumental reading becomes practical.  Families without a piano may purchase an inexpensive electronic keyboard for this activity.  We will be singing pitches and clapping rhythms before beginning to read with the violin or viola.

Students, who began in our string program during their preschool years, have become good readers by early elementary age and are enjoying ensemble playing from written music during select weekly group lessons.

Older beginners, who may be enrolled in school orchestra programs, also benefit tremendously from chamber group ensembles.
